These earrings are in honour of Dr Adnan Al Bursh, formely head of orthopaedics at Al-Shifa hospital as well as the countless other medical doctors, nurses and paramedics who have been killed in Gaza. Dr Al Bursh was a heroic figure in the medical field in Gaza, putting patients first at all times until he was detained by the IDF on 5 December 2023 while working at Al-Awda Hospital. He was detained by the IDF for four months and died at Ofer prison. Advocacy groups attribute his death to torture
